2006 American Music Awards - Part I

The American Music Awards was held last night. The biggest winner was hip-hop quartet The Black Eyed Peas with three victories (two wins in Favorite Band, Duo or Group in rap/hip hop and soul/rhythm & blues categories plus one win for Favorite Album rap/hip hop). Other winners were Sean Paul (best male pop/rock), Kelly Clarkson (best female pop/rock and Adult Contemporary) and rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers which won favorite alternative artist and for best pop/rock.

Beyonce performed her latest single "Irreplaceable". Other artists who performed were Snoop Dogg, Akon, Nelly Furtado and Gwen Stefani. Read more about the awards here or visit the official site at ABC.

2006 MTV Video Music Awards

The 2006 MTV Video Music Awards took place in Radio City Music Hall yesterday. Justin Timberlake opened up with a performance of his hit single "Sexy Back". Other artists who performed during the night were Shakira & Wyclef Jean (with a special "Bollywood" version of "Hips Don't Lie"), Pussycat Dolls, Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera who performed her ballad "Hurt". The show was hosted by Jack Black who was dressed as the bad Moonman and Elvis. Here's a list of all the winners:
