The remake of Omen

It's remake time again. When I first heard of a new version of The Omen was in production my first thought was: Not again.. Why make a new version of a perfectly made classic horror movie from the 70's? People are definitely going to compare it to the original one and it's going to be very hard for director John Moore to improve it.

I saw the remake of Amityville Horror a couple of months ago and even if the remake had the advantages of a bigger budget and new computer effects, the new movie failed to scare as the old one. The original movie had a more psychological feel to it and was less graphical. The remake of Omen might end up in the same trap. In the end it might be that the best thing about the new Omen movie is the ingenious release date: 6/6 06. Time will tell..

The Omen stars Liev Schreiber (The Hurricane), Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You), Mia Farrow (Rosemary's Baby) and Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick as Damian. For more info, visit the official site.
