I saw the movie Starkweather yesterday. It's based on the spree killer Charles Starkweather who together with his girlfriend Caril Ann Fugate killed 11 people in three months in the late 50's. His crimes later influenced both writers such as Stephen King and filmmakers (Oliver Stone - Natural Born Killers). Other films made with Starkweather in mind are Badlands and Kalifornia.
I remember I read something about Starkweather a couple of years ago but this is the first film based on the actual events I have seen. Released in 2004, the movie stars Brent Taylor as Starkweather and Shannon Lucio as Caril-Ann Fugate. You might recognize Shannon from TV series "The O.C." where she played Ryan's girlfriend Lindsay Gardner in a couple of episodes.
The movie was made with a tight budget and that might explain some of the mistakes done in the production. The real killings were taking place in Nebraska (movie was filmed else where), dates and seasons are mixed-up and so on. However, Starkweather was ok to watch but I must admit it contained a really bad car chase scene in the end. What were the producers thinking?
One good thing about this movie though, it starred Shannon Lucio. Her acting in this movie wasn't her best but she looked great. I planned to post a few stills of her from the movie but I couldn't find any.
